Just click the map to find which buses go there
If you find bus maps and time tables a bit confusing (and who doesn't) then bristolstreets.co.uk is the site for you. You can find out what bus routes go where and when they go there simply by clicking a map.
You can see all routes at the same time by clicking the bus icon in the side bar, which shows the routes on the map and a list of routes in the side bar. It also shows the different bus type mode icons such as park and ride and night buses so you can view those rather than regular daytime buses.
Just click anywhere on the map and a window pops up listing all of the bus routes going near the location you just clicked. The list of routes shows the route number on the left and the places at both ends of that route. If you click on any of these it will show the route on the map along with a marker for each stop along the route.
When a bus route line is shown on the map (see above), you can click on its green bus stops markers to find out what buses will be arriving at that stop. By default it will list buses within the next two hours. However if you want to know when buses will arrive at other times, you can click on the date and time sliders above the list of departures.
If you change the time on the sliders, that time will "stick" until you change it again even when looking at other markers. When times are for upcoming buses, an orange background is used, but when the buses listed are for other times than they are shown with a purple background.
If you have changed the time or date slider you can easily go back to the current times by clicking the word "date" on the left of the date slider. As you hover the mouse over it you will see it changes into a "now" button.
On many stops you can see the live arrivals information just like the LED signs that you see on the real bus stops. The live data is not available on all stops and only applies to buses run by First Bus. To see this information click the word "time" to the left of the time slider. As you hover the mouse over it you will see it changes into a "live" button.
When you see a departure in the information window for a stop (see above), you can find out about the other stops that it goes to by clicking on the departure line and it will open up the stops list. This will show the onward stops for this run of that route. This will indicate the scheduled times for that run. You will also be able to see exactly which stops will be serviced as sometime routes have variations for different times of day.
If you want to see where any of the onward stops is on the map you can click its name and the map will be repositioned to show that stop and the stop's information window will be opened to positively identify the stop on the map.
The Bristol Bus station is located between Marlborough St and Lower Maudlin St near the James Barton Roundabout. A one way, bus only driveway goes through the station from Marlborough St to Whitson St near the Eye Hospital.
You can see the bus station on the map
Many routes that go to destinations outside of Bristol start and end at the Bus station as do National Express coaches. The Birstol Flyer, the frequent coach service to Bristol International Airport also departs from the bus station.
There is an information centre at the Bus Station where you can get printed bus schedules and maps.
